The Pony Club was founded in England in 1929 and is now represented in 15 countries (including Malaysia) and has a Membership of over 100,000. It is the largest association of riders in the World. Many of the World’s most successful riders have been members of The Pony Club.

The objectives of The Malaysian Pony Club are;
  • To encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with ponies and riding.
  • To provide instruction in riding and horsemanship and to instill in Members the proper care of their animals.
  • To promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty, thereby cultivating strength of character and self-discipline.

Equestrian Centres around Malaysia are applying for Pony Club Centre Membership Status. Potential Members can join The Malaysian Pony Club at their local Pony Club linked Equestrian Centre. The activities of each Centre are administered by the Chief Instructor/General Manager.

Membership is open to anyone under 21 years of age. Members pay an initial joining fee (once only) and an annual subscription and receive instruction at a linked Equestrian Centre, this subscription constitutes Membership of The Malaysian Pony Club.

The affairs of The Malaysian Pony Club are managed by The Malaysian Pony Club Council with Headquarters at the Malaysian Equine Council, 19A Jalan Titiwangsa, 53200, Kuala Lumpur..

Membership allows the opportunity for a Member to learn more about riding and horse and pony care. Members are encouraged to take an interest in their work and improve their knowledge by working toward gaining Achievement Badges (20 badges covering a range of subjects) and Pony Club Tests up to ‘C+’ Standard. There is also a set of Progressive Tests available in Horsemanship. These allow Members to take tests in modules throughout the different levels.
